7-10k to spend on evo 8 build

Okay all always loved evos and finally got an 03 with 42k on it bought it for 7000 because guy has a rod knock and needed money.. car still runs but don't drive and I towed it home!! Well I got abourt 7-10k to spend on emgine, manifolds, fuel, transmission, suspension and so on.. will say don't know to much about evos and this is my learning added onto when I start taking it apart..

I'm shooting for 450-500whp range.. would that be a problem with this kinda money if not give someof your opion on parts I sshould go with first..

What is broken on it? I would start with fixing the broken parts and enjoy it.

Then look into this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...g-dummies.html

That is a really crappy suggestion, IMO that is one of the ugliest "fast" cars available on the market today.

Sounds like a rod bolt but I could be mistaken until I take it apart this week to see.. but for the price I couldn't pass it up with a perfect body and interior..

But like I said I bought car to build it, I could of bought a built one but mo learning experience or fun in that.. I'm shooting for the 450-500 range and just asking for opions on what to get me to that direction.. already plan on doing a polished crank, pistons, and rods just not sure on what direction.. and shep or buscher trans upgrade

I would do a build with good rods/pistons/crank then do an FP green and E85. If E85 is not available do a black and pump gas. Buy appropriate injectors and supporting mods and then see what is left over. Use a good single disk clutch and then do a tcase rebuild. The trans is usually last because it breaks last.

I would do a 2.3 if you have to buy a Crank. I love my 2.4.

Thanks for advice bud.. now would upgrading the valve tran with some over sized valves be a good idea with a manifold and a milspec 65tb?? Thought of going with a 3" intercooler with one piece icp too.. cause if I'm going to do it I want to do it right

Your stock valves are fine. I would port\polish the head and upgrade the springs if you plan on revving any higher. Larger cams would help out.

Unless your going to make 1000hp, you dont need larger valves. Its a huge expense for very little gain on a mild build.

Lol. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... You think everyone thinks the Evo is a "pretty" car? Hell no. And why did you put quotations around fast?

I would do anything that is hard to change like clutch tcase and block then do the bolt on Parts last. I think a ported intake and throttle body is worth it for a pump gas car. On an E85 car I would spend money elsewhere. The UICP is not needed to be one piece. It would be much more difficult to work with. I think it is impossible. The two piece works great.

Where do I mention the everyone or anyone thinking of the Evo as being pretty? Get outta here, hell you like the Evo X maybe that is why you like the GTR.

Because there are tons of ugly cars and the GTR happens to be one of the sort of fast ugly cars. They have to be modified to really be fast.

If you have no experience with big power I recommend just building the motor, doing injectors, fuel pump, and switching to e85 on the stock turbo. It makes for a fun street car, especially when you can push past 400tq comfortably.

@ OP - What type of car you looking to build? Street, AutoX/Rally, Drag, etc.? This will effect the parts you aquire (especially long term planning).

I just plan on doing a street/strip car "drag race it here and there".. def plan on doing the block and looked up shep tcase upgrade and trans going with that.. port and polish head intake mani and throttle body, probably go with a invidia tmani with 2 piece icp, order the fp black cause they reasonably priced and seem better than the gt30r, upgrade fuel system, injectors and go from there and see what happens..

All the advice is helping guys thanks

i run a fp black myself so dont get me wrong when i say this..... but the turbo alone is $2300. if i was in your situation would just go with a jb 6266. you can make alot more power and the turbo is 1/2 the price. the other half of that money can pay for the t3 setup. manifold wastegate dp ect.... boosting performance just did a jb6266 build and the car made 699wheel on a mustang dyno on e85. just wanted to share my opinion on what i would do if i had that to spend now
