Avoiding heating oil pan with new DP

Guys, I wrapped my new HKS DP with some header wrap to avoid heating up the oil pan. Thoughts?

I did the same thing. Also it will help the thermal dynamics of the exhaust flow

I havent done this to mine. I got a oil temp gauge coming off the oil filter area and I have not experenced any overheating issues. But I can understand how this will help. I may have to look into this. may I ask where You purchased the wrap?

Local performance shop here in AZ. Lopers Performance. I used ThermalTec, kinda pricey, but good stuff.

Your HKS DP didn't come with a warranty?

The HKS pipe does not appear to be too close to the oilpan compared to 3" pipes, but I guess it won't hurt any and may speed up exhaust gases by keeping the heat in the pipe.

Have it coated by SwainTech.

That wrap turns into a mess when it gets wet.

If you get it coated, don't put it back on, or you risk overinsulation.

My Fujitsubo DP is about 2,75" and it came with an adhesive heat shield to put on the oil pan.

IMO the wrap isn't worth the money. It cost around $40-50 once you get the wrap, the clips, the high temp sealant paint, etc. For just $25 more you can get a high quality coating. And while there are mixed opinions, the wrap is considered a fire hazard by some:

Good idea mate. No point in an oil cooler if you are just going to let the exhaust heat it up. While you had the wrap though, you could have done the exhaust manifold, or maybe got a manifold and turbo kit, these will help reduce the under bonnet temps no end! To the guy that thinks the wrap is dangerous, how come virtually every racer uses the stuff?

Probably because they have fire extinguishers in the cockpit and don't drive their cars everyday
