It has been said by some that we are illegal in 19 states.

It has also been said that it’s impossible for us to wear socks, and that we can open a beer bottle with our testes.

This made my night. You're right, JB knows nothing about pistons or Evo motors, and is especially clueless when I comes to tuning.

I'll bet most people have never even heard of these chinese pistons your referring to. I use ROSS RACING PISTONS in my 2.4l 10.5:1 compression engine. I would put these up against any piston manufacturer. $900 for custom coated pistons and worth every penny. ROSS RACING -Simply better than Venolia

He wants to run 5.94 JB. You gotta get on his level!

He was right about one thing:

So many haters, buschur doesn't use seizco. .......I give up. Yep, I'm the stupid one, for coming back to this stupid forum with stupid people. But I did learn something, don't come on these forums, loosers....."a wise man can learn from even a fool, a fool can learn from no one" -wise man.

Wait doesn't Dave us JE because he has a GREAT relationship with them.
I'd hardly call that a reason to not use Wiseco's. David Buschur strikes me as the once I know what works I'm changing the formula type of guy. Nothing wrong with that.

No offence but like has been stated Aaron (John Bradley) is extremely knowledgeable on this platform. He's contributed a lot on here. You haven't been here long so who do you think people will side with in this pointless debate.

Point is you should know who you are calling out before looking foolish.

Wow this thread blew up quickly. Wish I had caught it sooner! A couple points I want to clarify:

We built a 2.3L shortblock back in 2005 for the OP which had a set of the original, "standard duty" Wiseco pistons in it. This engine experienced a catastrophic failure due to detonation and the OP trusted us to build this engine again.

Regarding the piston choice we never try to talk people out of a particular piston. I never tried to talk the OP "out" of the Venolias. During my consultation with the OP he laid out his power goals, budget and time frame. Based on these criteria the Wiseco HD pistons would have fit the bill. During a follow-up phone conversation, he asked about upgrading to the Venolia pistons. I explained that they were stronger but are also more expensive, would take longer to have made and would also make a little more noise and didn't think they would fit his goals as well as the Wisecos. I never tried to talk him out of anything. It's my job to advise the customer of their options so they can make a more informed decision and that's what happened here. I advised him of the pros/cons and he decided to go with the Venolias then gets upset when I reiterate the 6 week time frame. I'm not sure how that's my fault

doug at venolia said 125 pist/pin/rings combo max price. I'm ok with jam making $275 on me if they get it done in a reasonable time. 4-6wks is unreasonable especially when doug said 2-3wks tops. I'm willing to spend money for it......Trust me, i make a lot.....went to school longer than most.
Unfortunately you only gave Doug half of the information. The price he quoted you was for the most basic set of pistons they offer. They do not include many of the optional features available such as pin oilers, accumulator grooves, milling, coating, gas nitrided top rings, upgraded pins, etc. Add all of those options up and you can more than double the price he quoted you. Also not included in the price he quoted you is the time it takes for us to design and spec out your piston. It's not as easy as opening a catalog and giving a salesman the part number. And in regards to the 2-3 week lead time he quoted you, that does not include coating. Coating adds an additional 2-3 weeks because they wont send the pistons to the coater until they have a certain amount to make a run.
