I was gonna give them a try but searching on here from folks who have had a head or shortblock from them seemed to have had too many issues for my liking. I ended up having MAP go over my cylinder head.

They're building my 2.3 liter right now and have done heads for me in the past. Never had an issue nor have the many people I know that have had work done there. I think some of the issues that are noted in the forums came from a certain individual that no longer works there.

My suggestion is to call them up and talk to Tony. He is the guy who over sees most of their import work and I'm sure he would be happy to address any of your questions or concerns.

I've seen enough bad reviews over the years that they'll never get my business. FWIW

I know an acquaintance that had his motor built from them... It was a 2.3 stroker.
It was a beast!.... even though it had a rod slapping against the cylinder wall.
Stupid mistake on their part.

Nonetheless... I would never get any work done by them.

I'm disappointed to see that there are still some lingering effects of our previous management. In the past two years we have been working hard to undo the damage that was done. She dug us a nice, deep hole with poor customer service, inconsistent pricing and at times a substandard product. All of those issues have since been remedied and feedback from our customers has been positive with a lot of repeat business.

I wish I asked this question before I had them build my motor. I was quoted certain price and charged more, charged higher for parts, did not recieve parts that was charged for, did not recieve service that i paid for. I am being lied about certain parts being installed in the motor which I dont see them and engine builder cant not see them.

I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GOING TO THEM.

I got my 2.4 build by them recently and can't really complain. They have decent pricing, build it on time, for the price they promised. Motor itself does not burn any oil, cold starts are quiet and not a single problem so far. Tony was very helpfull with all the questions I had. That's my experience with them.

Correction:
You were quoted a price over the phone for a service but only heard the first half of the conversation. You asked how much to port the chambers on your cylinder head. The answer was $200 for the porting plus the labor to disassemble, clean, mill and re-assemble the head along with a set of valve seals. All you heard was "$200". You showed up to take delivery of your engine and didn't have enough money. We gave you the benefit of the doubt and allowed you to take your head with you while you still had a $408 balance with us, which you agreed to pay the following week. Two weeks later you made a partial payment of $200 and agreed to pay the rest in another week when you got paid. This second payment was never made. Instead, you called your credit card company and tried to dispute the charge as an unauthorized transaction. The bank found that to be laughable and immediately placed the funds back into our account.

As for not receiving services that you paid for I'm going to assume you mean the oil squirters? Jerry told me you called about that a few weeks ago but I'll clarify anyway. Recently we have had a handful of 4G64 blocks come through the shop with significant core shift and/or casing imperfections which wouldn't allow the OEM-type squirters to be installed. Since then we began using a method borrowed from other engine families and the racing industry of installing oiling "jets" into the mains to supply oil to the bottoms of the pistons. Only some of the 4G64 blocks have problems but there's no way to tell until you poke a hole in it. Instead of adding a bunch of blocks to the scrap pile we came up with an alternative. If you feel you're being lied to, the push out a rod and piston or pull the crank out and you'll see them clear as day. I can assure you that you weren't charged for any parts or services that you didn't receive. The opposite is actually true- you received more than you paid for since you still haven't settled your debt.

Hi Tony,

If this is the case and it's under new management - it would be great to make a "new management" thread so that everyone knows
It's always great to see workshops on here, especially to give you side to any story (like above!!)

Cheers, Mike

True story about the jets on the 4g64. Saw it 1st hand and in person. 2 sides to every story and BTW who thinks they're going to get that kind of head work for $200 bucks?
