Oil pump gear leak (picture)

So about a week ago my nut for the oil pump gear walked out and caused a huge oil leak. The gear did not completely come off but did come close. I replaced the oil pump shaft seal, and installed everything back together with a nylon locking nut with some blue thread locker. Now after everything is back together I noticed the car leaking a little again. After cleaning the whole front section of the motor I found where the oil is coming from. Seems to be seeping from the oil pump shaft. Only thing that makes me worried is that I literally just replaced the seal two days ago. Any thoughts?

-Maybe gear itself got messed up and thus not providing a good surface for the seal?
-Oil pump is no bueno? (never dropped oil pressure when the leak happened, oil still read on the dip stick, and motor has about 15-20K since it was built)

Thanks for any input!

Those little lines on the gear is oil coming out.

I have not seen this happen after replacing the seal. The gear may have been damaged or is worn causing oil to leak past the new seal since the nut walked off.

I have an extra gear and seal if you want them.

That is the only reasonable explanation that I can come up with.

This is also not the first seal I have installed, I took my sweet time to make sure I did not damage anything along the way. Both taking it off and installing the new one.

Before the oil pump gear nut walked out out there was no issue at all. Thanks! I am half tempted to just drive down the the dealership pay a ton of $$ (gear, seal, and new oem nut) and see if that fixes it. Keep you guys and gals posted.

If that does not work, I might just replace the whole oil pump assembly next.

Well after taking the gear out and trying to see why it was still leaking I decided to replace the seal again. This time I installed the gasket with motor oil and also covered the back of the oil pump sprocket in oil too. Took my sweet time installing it and also used blue thread locker on the oil pump shaft while installing the outer nut and torqued everything down.

That was yesterday morning and today everything is still dry. Hopefully that was the end of that oil leak. Keeping my fingers crossed!
