New Front Case/Oil Pump oil leak. Need Help!

Hi guys, I haven't been on here in years, since I sold my first Evo. Now I have another, and I just built a 2.3L, and while everything is back together and I have started it, I have found a large oil leak.

The leak is coming down the case right behind the Crankshaft Position Sensor, so I started to research it and people were saying the center bolt on the Motor Mount needs sealant since it hits an oil galley, so that was the first thing I did.

After letting the thread sealant sit for 24 hours, I started the motor last night and it still has the same oil leak. This is a HUGE oil leak. It leaks 2-3 drops of the front case every second.

So I wiped everything clean, again, and there is no oil above the front case at all. There is what looks like a check valve on the top of the front case, and that is where I think the leak is coming from. This "ball" is directly above the oil pump shaft.

Does anyone have any experience with this leaking? What are my options? I thought about having a friend lay a weld bead to cover the hole, but I don't know if that would have any ill effects.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys,

John

did you remove your balance shaft? If so, that bolt hole needs to be plugged where the previous assembly went. Good luck

Usually its the castle nut. Did it have a good o-ring, was it tightened enough? Did you put lock-tight on it to be sure it wont leak?
