stock ecu

how much is a stock ecu? i think i might have killed mine
Today I installed a o2 housing with an extenal dump tube, after installing i left a bunch of crap on the passenger floor near the ecu. While test driving i notice the afc was blank i was like WTF, so i pulled over and notice all the crap pushed up to the ecu and the afc wiring, so i cleared the floor and the afc came back on. so as i am driving back i get on it and as the wastegate opens (LOUD AS ****) up the car shuts off after about a hour of tring to see what wrong I find a blowen fuse for the ecu, I changed it and the car starts. So i start driving and as soon as i get on it and the wastegate opens the fuse blows again (five times). Now i have taken the afc out of the car and trace all my eletronic in the car for a short and i found nothing.

any ideas
maybe ecu
i don't think it could be the external dump and i wrong I don't really want to take it of and it is not the problem, it was a ***** to get on. car ran fine up untill today

where does external wg dump to? Any wiring or sensors nearby that you could be overheating?

Normally I would say you are too close to wires with the dump (the same things with some DSMs and alternators), but it appears you have a different problem. Clean up all the jumble you said you had down there and check for crossed wires and possibly test the wire that runs to the fuse for the ecu.

if your ecu is burned up, you might as well go with standalone, but you have to know what caused this mess to occur in the first place

utec isn't actually a standalone, it plugs into your existing ecu... it's really a piggyback.. Standalone is more like the AEM

I think a new stock ECU is about $900. I checked one time when I was thinking of reflashing and having 2 ECU's, one stock, one flashed. You want to be sure you really need it so I'd advise you to put everything back to stock just to be sure it's not your wiring mods.
