Just pulled my motor

I just bought an Evo 8 as a project car needing engine work. I pulled the motor out the last two days. It came with a new head and new stock pistons. The old head lost a few heads off a few valves, lots of white reside / build up on the valve stems.... Over boost / nitrous ? Either way that head is done for along with the pistons. Block looks good so far. Looks like one of the cylinders has a very slight scratch in it. Tomorrow I'm going to tear down the block and go to the machine shop. Find out if it can be honed and use stock pistons or if I have to bore it out and maybe do a stroker block. Hope I don't need to bore it.

If it's build up. Possibly a botched Meth setup. If it's just white I'd say alot heat/detonation from a crappy tune or overboosting (or of course a combo of the two).

If it's just a scratch you might get away with a quick hone - I guess use your best judgement there. I would always bore a used block just for piece of mind and starting on a fresh surface.

I am going to bore it and do a 2.3 stroker. Upgraded to a LSD diff in the t case. Act clutch. Rebuilding / upgrading the transmission too. Should be a fun build
