Question about blow-off valves...
Well all the mods I want/need on my car is intake, ecu reflash, and exhaust (i have my reasons..)...but I always fancied the idea of getting BOV because I love that PSHHHHH sound whenever you press clutch to shift gears or whatever....
I thought BOV was just fo sho (serving no purpose other than to show off or for the sound) but someone told me that BOV is kind of like extra exhaust; you can suck out more air (hence the PSHHHHH sound) so that you can get more power out of the engine...
is that true? how much is average BOV anyway...

Okay I see you are new to this so let me start simple
The EVO comes stock with a recirculating BOV. The purpose of this is to prevent a surge of air on the turbo's when the throttle is closed (i.e. when you release the gas)
The only way you will gain power is if the stock BOV was leaking boost.
The stock BOV cycles this air back into the intake BEFORE the turbo instead of out in the open. With this setup, you are unable to hear the sound that you want. There are 3 ways to do this:
1) Get a cone filter and listen to the stock BOV. These types of filters allow you to hear it, as the stock airbox suppresses the sound.
2) Get a VTA (vent to air) BOV. This releases the air to the open giving you the sound. This however has problems with low idling and stalling with some (most?) EVO owners.
3) Get a dual VTA/Recirc. BOV (what I plan to do) This allows you to keep everything else stock and if set properly, will give you the sound without stalling/idling issues.
Normal BOVs (both VTA and recirc) are ~150-250 bux and the dual ones tend to be a lil more than that.
Hope this makes sense!
