Bad boost leak around throttle body - HELP PLEASE
Bad boost leak around throttle body - HELP PLEASE
Purchased the car about two weeks ago and just installed my aeroforce gauge with boost sensor. After install and calibration i noticed im only hitting 10-12psi around 4500 rpms, I verified the boost controller is reading accurately. I tried to do a boost leak test and i am only able to build about 2 psi and it will not hold at all. I then hooked a constant supply line to the turbo and managed to build the pressure to about 5 psi so i could locate the leaks. I have found a hissing sound coming from the tb area but am not seeing any bubbles when i spray my soap solution around the tb. I cannot feel any air and i do not see any hoses off. I removed the egr valve and installed a block off plate in between the egr and intake manifold, this did not resolve my issue either. Im getting frustrated and am contemplating ordering a new TB and egr block off kit in hopes that my problem lies somewhere within that puzzle. Sorry if some of this dosnt make sense, ive been under the hood for a few hours and am at my wits end. I have searched and searched and searched so any help or incite is appreciated.
Check the TB seals, but also check the connection to the intake manifold. Maybe it's not torqued down properly or maybe the gasket is messed up. Also check the vacuum lines or caps on the top of the TB used for emissions stuff
I sprayed soap water around the tb shaft seals and opened and closed the throttle body with no sound change. Ive checked the upper vac hoses and i found a few issues and repaired but made no difference.
