Close ratios can keep a limited powerband more usable, I.e a car with a 1000rpm powerband between peak torque and peak power is not going to work well with a trans that drops 2500 rpm between shifts. 8 speeds takes the F1 a gear further but if you had a half step between a current 4 speed dogbox (for instance) you'd end up with a 1250rpm drop which would be great since shifting a car a few hundred rpm past peak power is still okay.

Sounds like an airshifted dog box.

A GT55 at 14psi would make lessay 900whp at 11,000 but the powerband would be a slope up to redline. Why they would want a close ratio 8 speed.

Somehow I expected to see Extreme Tuners behind this. Can't they pick on Subaru's? That's a much bigger market.
Still, I wonder what Dima Filin is doing with this venture. When I lived on Ukraine, he was seen as legit. I knew nothing then about Evos that you couldn't learn from playing GTIII, but at least you regularly saw his cars around so they weren't pure vaporware.
