HELP! High Idle Issues With New Motor Install

Ok so here is the hole story. I bought the car and only had it running for about 30secs. So I can't speak for how it idled before. The old short block was trash so the short block was replaced but I used the same head, intake mani, tb, every from the original motor. Got the it fired up and the motor sounded just fine and idled right around 1100-1200 cold. Then as soon as the temp gauge moved the idle went up to 1700-1800!

So far I have checked all vac lines and made sure they are all hooked up correctly. I have boost leak tested it and got all leaks fixed (only had a few small leaks). I checked the MAF by having the car running and unplugging it. The idle went down to about 1300rpm, and once plugged back in it went right back up. Also the idle doesn't hunt what so ever. Just stays steady at 1700-1800 as soon as it warms up.

The only thing I can think of is, when I bought the car it had a freshly built 2.3l in it. I was told it had less then "1000 Miles". I'm wondering if for some reason the shop that built it set the idle high in the tune to break in the motor. Other then that I have no idea. And I've never used evo scan and haven't ever had any experience with tuning software. So maybe somebody local might be generous enough to come to my shop and check out the tune if you guys agree that should be my next step.
Thanks!

Oh forgot to add that I haven't driven it yet, but I have had it running 3-4 times all the way to fully warm and I haven't had a CEL yet.

Make sure the throttle body is able to close as much as it should. I had the throttle body cable with not enough slack before and it caused the car to idle high.

What are the idle settings in evoscan?

Forgot to add that but yes I did check that. There is some slack in the throttle cable. Again I don't know how to use evoscan. I have the software on my comp but I never got a cable yet. Debating on just buying one but I have no idea how to use it. Haha.

I would get a cable and Ecuflash. That way you could view/adjust your rom if need be. There is a lot of information on here and plenty of people glad to help you out if needed. I taught myself to tune by reading on this site and others. Then spending a ton of time logging my car and making adjustments. I am sure that you can do it to. Just take your time and make very small adjustments.

Yeah I hear ya. Only thing is, is that the car is going to be for sale as soon as the bugs are worked out. So it's just another expense that id rather not make if I didn't have to. I dunno if I'll ever have another evo, so it might never come in handy again to me. I guess I'll weigh my options. If anybody else has any input I'd be glad to hear it.
Thanks

Ok so here is a new update. I drove the car around today for the first time since the motor install. It seems to be better. Now it's idling while warm at 1100rpms. Not sure how driving it around changed anything. But it's still high. I'm thinking again that it is due to the tune. It does have hks 264 cams in it. But my old evo had gsc 272's and it had the idle set at 850 and it was just fine. Hmmmm
