What pistons/compression to use on 2.4LR 1000whp goal?
Hey guys ive made a bunch of posts regarding my 2.4 build im doing and i know im going with TT rods 156mm and now i was going to go with 1400hd's but i want something that's 10:1 or 10.5:1. What would be the best pistons to go with if my goal is 1000awhp. I just dont feel 9.0:1 will cut it and i would be better off with 10.0-10.5:1 compression. Please let me know what pistons would be best and what your thoughts are on the compression, thanks.

Get a custom piston made by Diamond, Mahl, or one of the other makers. I have custom Diamonds in mine. BTW, I'm just wondering if u know what it truly takes to make a 1000awhp with one of these little motors? You have to spend A LOT of money and have all the supporting hardware to get it done (big turbo, cams, headwork, fuel system, transmission must be built, expensive clutch, t-case, rearend, etc...). Do you already have all this stuff done to your car?
Yes, i realize its going to cost more than a couple thousand. I have a built head already, transmission/tcase is going out to jacks soon, im in the process of doing the fuel system now, have an exedy triple coming in where im going to do the pull conversion w/hydraulic tob, as for the turbo im not sure which im going to go with yet.
I would think that it depends on the gas your going to use... if your going to be on e98 or something along those lines I think 10:1 - 10.5:1 is a good idea. My buddy made over 1000awhp in his talon and he had custom pistons that were around 11:1.. but if your going to be on pump e85 I would think that 9:1 might be your best bet.
I am in the process of building my car and although my goal isn't 1000awhp there is a chance im going to hit that number but, in the end, its just a number. I will be using the 1400HD 10.5:1 Pistons and be tuned on e98. Depending on how long your build takes I can always let you know how it works out :P

i run my 10.5:1 2.4LR on pump 93 daily around 30psi. E85 45psi. NO issues, zero knock in FLorida heat. IT'S ALL IN THE TUNE~~~!~!
Use the HD 1400 10.5:1 shelf piston from Wiseco for a 2.4LR. can't go wrong. 1000whp is a pretty steep goal for a 2.4 Reving to the moon like a 2.0, your bearings are going to hate you...... often.

my biggest question isn't your piston type....
it's what kind of crankcase ventilation are you running, and you better answer at least 3 -10an fittings from multiple spots to a VERY WELL ventilated can. 2.4LR high compression makes more pressure than most are prepared to deal with. TRUST ME. and better be porting that oil filter pressure relief valve.

Oh its not cheap either and I saved all this money on my last deployment and don't plan to get cheap parts so suggestions do help. Also where can I find the wiseco hd 10.5 for the long rod setup?.
Interestingly enough this page has the ventilation setup you would need as well as the pistons
and these are just all around great guys to deal with.
