Want some advice on FIC injectors.

Looking to do an E85 conversion on my 2003 Evo VIII.

The List:
-stock turbo
-Walbro 255
-Hallman MBC
-LC1 Wideband
-Boost Gauge
-Tactrix 2.0 cable

Now for the injectors I had been reading about the difference between low and high Z. Low Z produces a smoother idle? Was curious to know if the standard low Z FIC injectors like these below will work well for my application.

I am not going to get close to maxing those out at 5000ft altitude on the stock turbo but other have told me if you go with low z FIC you have to go with the bluemax which seem to only come in sizes above 1000cc which is overkill for my goals.

So whats the difference other than size?

Thank you!

Don't get anything less than 1100cc, personally I like these http://fuelinjectorclinic.com/mitsub...-9/IS126-1100H

The main reason to pick up a set of this size and larger is to allow for you to run e85.

The BlueMax 1250cc and PTE 1200cc are both good sets as well, the PTE is what I run in my car.

I can run E85 on smaller injectors because of my altitude. On my 2012 WRX I ran the stock pump and 550cc injectors at 95% IDC on E85. When I jumped up to a td05 20g my FIC 900cc high-z were only at 80% IDC @ 24psi boost on E85. We lose a lot of power up here. Just curious if the 950cc will work plug and play problem free or why people only recommend the blue max for low z.

The 950cc will work but you are going to limit yourself to only being able to use them on stock turbo for e85 and will pretty much be maxed out. You don't want to run high IDC%.

What's up man? You're not too far from me.

I use FIC 1100 High Z injectors on a similar set up, with S2 cams. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think I'm around 85% IDC on E85. Which with your set up will be a little lower.

Idle and cruise are like stock.

To answer your question, there are good threads by MrFred on the FIC 1100: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...injectors.html and ER: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...injectors.html

My plan is to stick to the stock turbo as its my DD and I track the car here and there. Just looking to pick up an additional 50-70whp or so to mitigate the power loss due to altitude. As long as the 950cc will work without issue they should be plenty for my goals.

Thanks!

I was actually debating whether I was going to tune the car myself or have someone tune it. Wasn't sold on the local shops. Was sketchy on tuning the cold start on E85. My only real prior tuning experience was with a Cobb AP on a Mazdaspeed 3. I tuned it on E85 and a gt3076r. There are no aftermarket injectors for that car so I didn't have to mess with scaling. Just Maf cal. I know the basics but I really need the car to start in any temp.

Where are you at in Colorado? If you are close enough for a road tune I might go that route.

Hey man! I replied to your email too. Start up on E85 is not a problem. I'll take care of ya.

I'm up in Milliken which is north east of Longmont. We have great roads for tuning on up here. I look forward to it!

Check out the 1050SP....... Right about the same as the 1100 but may give you a few more ponies.
