Hey guys so starting today i have been hearing this very faint piston slap sound. whether the engine is cold or hot. I was thinking i was just hearing stuff but then all the sudden i heard it again when i was driving tonight. It seems to do it whether its in gear or in neutral but when i pull into my driveway i open the hood and rev it a little i hear no piston slap sound. Could this also be something in the drivetrain causing this sound? It just all of the sudden started to happen. anyone else have any similar experiences?? I mean this motor only has 89k miles on it so it would suck to see the motor be bad at this low of miles.

Exhaust leak? I know it's probably not it, But worth a shot. My car madr this disgusting rattle noise that sounded like metal on metal. Ended up being my cat just breaking up and going through my exhaust
But it was a scary few days for me.

 

yeah mine is catless lol. but it doesn't sound like an exhaust leak or anything. kinda sounds like the same noise my WRX would make when it was cold (piston slap).

 

Piston slap is usually when the car is cold. A worst case scenario would be a spun bearing! But I can't really tell without hearing it.
