Intercooler Reservoir Question

Not sure if I am posting in the right forum, but here I go.

How can I tell if the Intercooler Reservoir is low on fluid. There is no measurement stick or gauge, that I can find. Any simple suggestions? Also, since this is my first Intercooler turbo car, can someone please explain how the intercooler knows when to use some coolant to cool things down.

Thanks!

You can usually see the fluid shimmering as you look in the reservoir. Inserting something long enought to reach the bottom of the container will also give you some indication when you pull it out. Otherwise, just keep it full by dumping fluid in it until it comes out the overflow.

The ECU uses multiple variables to decide wether or not to spray (boost, temp, etc...). Obviously, this can be overridden by the push of a button

It's not a big deal if the sprayer reservoir runs out of fluid. It would be nice if the reservoir had a "low level" indicator.

I don't about the Evo's ECU but other spray system controllers look at a variety of parameters such as ambient air temperature, intake air temperature & injector duty cycle. This allows the controller to look at the actual temperature of the intake air in comparison to the ambient air temperature as well as to take into consideration how hard the engine is working.

No, I use windsheild washer fluid (basic cheap stuff, nothing special) , just like the manual says. I have read of other "discussions" about what some people use in place of the washer fluid, but I paid too much money to not follow what Mitsu recommends.

Yes, that's what the manual says. As far as the paint peeling, I'd have to look into that, doesn't sound right. I think a lot of people would be pissed off if their paint came off from using your run of the mill windsheild washer fluid.

probably at least 2 reasons, the main would be it has some alcohol content and thus will evaporate faster giving you a cooler aircharge than just water, also will not freeze up and bust your lines in the winter time like water can. the increased cooling effect is the main reason.
