Boost Controller/ BOV Question?

I have a 2003 Evo VIII that has an GReddy type RS blow off valve. It also has one of those aftermarket DNA motorsports in line boost controllers in the line from the waste gate to the turbo. My plan is to replace the Greddy BOV with an Stock Evo IX bov and also to eliminate the boost controller. To remove the boost controller, can I just take it out and re route the hose from the wastegate into the turbo? Is that how it is on a stock vehicle? The distance between the two is very short and I'm just trying to route the pipe correctly. The engine has been running a P0172 code (system too rich) and I'm trying to return it to stock for now to pass inspection. My overall question is how is the pipe from the waste gate to the turbo on a stock evo? Where are they routed? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

No. You will need to use a manual boost controller like the one you have or find a stock boost controller and the correct lines and re-install that to the car

Stock Boost Controller (Driver Side Frame Rail at the front of the car)
Attachment 332556

Y-Line with a boost pill in it that connects to the turbo and waste. Other side connects to the boost controller
Attachment 332557

Line that connects from the other post on the boost controller to the intake pipe AFTER the MAF sensor (between the MAF and the turbo inlet)

Alex is right. You'll need the stock boost solenoid and pill restrictor to go back (just keep the mbc on there).

You should find what is actually causing you to run rich. Probably a boost leak - pay a shop to do a boost leak test.

Thanks for the detailed description guys. I appreciate this, but it opens up a lot more questions. With the boost solenoid: my boost controller is just there in between the lines for the waste gate and the turbo. I see that I have the wires there and they go to that Y splitter but there's nothing connected to it. Can I delete this stupid boost thing and just connect the two hoses back to it? The thing on the lines is just a small blue thing with a screw on it.What are the pieces that I'm missing? I know this engine was messed with, but I'm not sure how. Another question: if I change my bov to the stock one, is it possible that I can run into some problems because I have this aftermarket mbc? Will the two parts sync up together without adjustment or will I cause damage?

One other thing! I have the two lines (one from the wastegate and one from the turbo) they go to this little blue thing, leaving the splitter empty. I have the thing from the first picture, the wires to the thing on the frame rail. the splitter on the frame rail is empty and the two hoses that go to it are in this boost device. can I just disconnect the two hoses from this blue thing and reconnect them to the boost controller on the frame rail? is there anything in between the lines from the wastegate and the turbo to the controller on the frame rail??? the car has all of that but it is disconnected. I'm thinking I can just reconnect it to the way it was. the frame rail controller thing should not be empty, correct? I just need to know if there is anything in between the two lines that go to the rail controller. Is it just from the wastegate to the rail controller and back to the turbo? or is there anything in between? The thing that the two lines go into from the first picture is a boost controller? and what is a boost pill? I think that might be the blue thing?? I have no idea. thanks again so much guys.

I want to include some pictures so that I can detail what I'm saying:
Boost Controller/ BOV Question?-boost-controller.jpgThis is that blue boost thing.
Boost Controller/ BOV Question?-empty-valve.jpgThis is that empty boost controller on my frame rail.
Boost Controller/ BOV Question?-lines.jpgThese are the two lines going from the wastegate to the blue thing to the turbo. They have two plastic things in the line that I don't know what they are.

The only thing that I think I'm missing is the pill restrictor in the line from the wastegate. I want to reroute the pipes back into the stock controller on the frame rail and remove the blue controller thing. Is this possible? There is no way that I can leave the stock boost controller with an empty plug.(This is definitely contributing to my problem and poor drivability.) Does anyone have more pics of the stock setup? I just want to revert it back to the old way. Is this pill thing vital for the setup? Maybe its still in this line somewhere, I'm not sure. As always, any information is greatly appreciated.

So with a manual boost controller one line (from the turbo) will feed to the "in" line on the boost controller.

the "out" line on the boost controller will feed from the boost controller to the wastegate

the boost controller is there to set the proper level of boost, otherwise you're just going to be running wastegate pressure

the stock boost controller does just stay mounted and plugged in, but cap off the two lines on it with a vacuum line end cap (5/32 size)

Okay, with all of that said, I'm going to revert it back to the stock setup. I have just about everything I need. One other question: which line is "in" and which is "out" on the stock boost controller? Thanks so much for your help!

I don't remember and I took the pictures after I'd taken the lines off the car. I'd call CBRD or STM or English Racing. Any Evo shop and ask and they should know
