I got off the phone with them a little bit ago, and they told me that there was a very large amount of metal debris in the oil filter. So I did in fact spin a rod bearing. And badly. They estimated that it would be around $7000 for a rebuild. Is it just me, or does that seem a little bit high? And if I were to somehow facilitate a rebuild on my own, what would I need/roughly how much would that cost?

$7000 lol? Did they specify what was damaged?
$7000.... You can buy a Buschur 2.3 without supplying cores with that money and you'll have about $2000 left over...

I think you have to factor in the cost for labor.

Ah yes I always forget labor... I don't know how the rates are in the US but I'm assuming it still shouldn't cost that much?

I don't know what that shop charges for labor, but if it includes decent parts that's actually not a bad price.

I really just want to get the motor back to where it was before it spun the bearing. It was just a stock bottom end. I don't want anything special since I don't plan to be going above 400hp.

So, you should prefer a good car repair center to solve this issue.
