I just finished purchasing my last bolt ons and plan on getting tuned in a couple weeks then my next step is deciding which turbo upgrade do i want lol I think I've decided on going with an fp black and i want to stay on pump gas but obtain the max power i can get as we all obviously want. i want to try and achieve 600awhp on Buschurs Dyno. Like i said I'm new to posting on this and just looking for some friendly advice from other evo guys so lets here all your opinions on upgraded turbos and would i be able to get this on an fp black.

Pump gas 600whp on Buschur's Mustang Dyno? Pretty much impossible, sorry to burst your bubble. Get a 62mm turbo like a 3586 or 6266, you should benefit from it more with pump gas.

Yeh going larger than a 62mm on pump gas is not ideal mainly because you need higher boost to really bring out the power that 64 or 67mm turbos produce. A 62mm will give you the best outcome with less boost.

I would personally go with a 3586. I feel the quality of FP turbos surpass that of PTE turbos but it's obviously up to you. They both behave similarly though. I believe the 3586 will give you more up top though.

Cool looks like i may be looking into a 3586 then from the sounds of it… right now with all the mods i have listed all i need to install is the FMIC, piping, BOV, and battery kit then get a tune till i can save up for the turbo step. But, with everything i have listed except the new turbo i have been doing a lot of research and i think i shouldn't have a problem pulling off around 340whp on Bushcurs. Do you think that sounds like an accurate number?? And thanks for the advice man really appreciate it.

If you're on stock evo 8 turbo then yes I'm pretty positive you'll reach 350whp on Buschurs dyno.
And anytime, I'm sure others will chip in to help you make a decision if you change your mind or something

Yep stock 05 Evo 8 turbo at least for now and who knows theres so many turbos to pick its crazy haha i was always kinda thinking the fp black but from what others have told me and now from what you have I'm leaning other ways now and a 3586 sounds like a good set up for me then. and thanks i was really crossing fingers on being able to pull those numbers with my set up lol what kind of numbers do you think would be realistic for the 3586 on pump gas?

I currently run a 35 on my car and I'm making 540whp @ 25 psi (Dynojet numbers). Compare that to Buschurs Mustang dyno, which reads 13% less than a Dynojet, I should be making around 470whp on Buschurs Mustang dyno. Now that doesn't seem like a lot, but trust me it is. I beat a bolt-on GTR in a roll race event (I don't know how much power it was making). So, if you get anywhere near 450whp on Buschurs dyno you should be very happy, especially on pump gas.
With your setup, I don't see any difficulty coming close to 450whp or even higher on Buschurs dyno.

The FP black is an excellent turbo. From what I have seen, heard, and read; however, the FP Black's full potential is utilized with high boost (34+ psi approximately). With pump gas, I'm quite certain you will have a tough time keeping up with 34 psi without knock.

Awesome so a 35 and an fp black both would be very nice turbos to get and with the 35 on lower boost i could make good numbers without the harm of possible knock that may come with the black. So i think the 35 sounds like a better set up in my opinion from your advice.

I would look into using a 6766 itll spool roughly the same area as the FP Black. Use BRs front facing turbo manifold. Boost 30lbs on 93. Pretty much like Gary's Myth. Your build is closely similar to his, and he pushed 700+. But I'm sure it wasn't on DBs dyno which from everything I've read is stingy. Using C16 and upping boost the same build went to 900+
