Turbo selection ?

Ok, I am going to be getting a rebuild on my BR 2.4LR. But been kicking around the idea of going to a bigger turbo. But I can't decide for the life of me what I want to go with. Don't get me wrong I do like my FP Black, but I just want something bigger. Also like how the bigger frame turbos clime for there hp and keep on going up or they stay flat line at the hp level it's at. And they don't fall on there face like with a stock houseing turbo does. It seems like all stock houseings fall on there face after around 7k. I have had my share of fun with them. But it is time for more power. You all know what I mean. We all get that more hp bug.

Here is what I mostly do in my Evo. It's my weekend warrior with trips to the track. I would go more once everything is dailed in the right way. I go V8 hunting on the streets. With some night time cruzing around town. My goal is to hit low 10's with even maybe some possible 9's in there.

Here is the turbo selections that I like. HTA86, 6266, or 6466. These are all great turbos from what I have read looked up and watched on you tube. But I can't really decide. So this is why I am posting up and asking your oppoin on selecting the best turbo I should go with.

Here is my mod list:
FP Black
BR 2.4LR
BR TBE
BR UPPER INERCOOLER PIPE
BR RACE BATTERY
BR RACE FRONT MOUNT I/C
BR Ported IM & TB
BR 272 Cams
BR Double Pumper
BR PORTED EXHUST MANIFOLD
FP LICP (j-pipe)
EPM O2
Tial 50mm BOV
EXDEY TWIN DISC CLUTCH
Spoolin up COP
ARP HEAD STUDS L19's
Shep T-Case
Supertech Springs & Retainers
Fluidampr
PTE 1200cc
GrimSpeed EBCS( I am going to be taken this off and putting a BR Duel BC)
Fidanza Cam Gears
BR Fuel Rail ( needs to be put on)

Thank you for everyone for reading and there insite on this

I'd choose the 6466 out of the turbo's you listed. It will spool great with the 2.4l and will easily get you where you want to be.

i just went with the fp hta86 over the pte6466 because of proven reliability, i kinda dont trust the precision turbos. i bet the 6466 will make more power then the hta86 in high boost for sure but there's just no good info on this turbo yet

Yeah. That's what I have been seeing. But tuff call still. Both are well built turbos. That 6466 is still kinda new to the market. So I know it will take time for more reviews to get posted.

turbos dont make power , good setups do.

a bigger turbo in your setup will just create more lag for small gain in top end power. car wont get faster at track and may get slower. stock frame turbos dont fall on their face at 7000 when setup well. there is something wrong with your setup. a bigger turbo will be like a band aid on the problem

my advice would be figure out why you are not running 10 flat with the 2.4 black before considering a larger snail.

Ok then. I want to make more HP then. I want to be close to 600 on 93 Oct. I know the black cant do that on 93. It could do it on e85 though. We only have one station here were I live that has it. And its like a 30-40 min ride. Almost all blacks I seen spike really quick then start to fall after 7k. Also with maxing out the black it wont last as long as a bigger turbo pushing less. When the big turbo can stay in hp band all the way to redline. I don't mind the little bit of lag.

Heck.. 600 on 93 I was doing on my 37R(T04z) for crying out loud.. given you got a 2.4L make use of the thing.. 6766 DBB and call it a day dude if you hunt on the street.. with all the 6466 6566 blah blah.. go big or go home.. from personal research and seeing what a 6766 is capable of.. best end all be all unless you want a 3794.. either one will get the job done period

Stock frame turbos aren't gonna pull up top like real turbo kits period, no matter what u do to the setup it's not gonna make the kind of jam that a 6466 or garret counterpart will make up top. Thats the point of stock frame setups is too be more street friendly low end torque.

We in da same boat, brotha.

HTA3586's have made 650whp on pump and spool great on a 2.4L. I say go with that. To make a 3794 worth it you'd have to run a ton more boost than you're capable of on pump gas.
