Your wallet not mine, I refuse to pay $500 dollars more for the same thing I have always bought. If you got it like that, pm me I have a new one I would be happy to sell you, then I will have money left over for repairs if the 6466 breaks a year later.

Thats the only reason I wouldnt want to go with PTE, if the turbo blows its down time, labor, and more money.

True true... but at the same time I don't want to be taking off the turbo and sending it out every few thousand miles or so.

6766 or 3794, pte or fp, $500 cheaper or $500 more expensive... choose your cup of tea

sorry for not reading through all the replies but it's 2am...

If your goal is low 10's, then your current setup should be capable. a FP black on a 2.4LR can do that with a reasonably experienced driver. Look into easy weight reduction mods and stuff like that; and I don't mean gutting your street car.

If you REALLY feel you need to go bigger, and i certainly am not going to knock that, I wouldn't make too big of a jump past the black. On race gas you shouldn't have any issues with power falling on it's face at 7k rpms.

Bottom line, I think spending on the overall setup of your car would be better than going to a huge turbo.

-happy hunting!

I hear what your saying but disagree with your assessment on PTE turbos. Someone has seemed to convince you that they break every few thousand miles which is not true at all. There have been failures yes, I personally know of two 86's that failed, it happens. I will say that Garrett based turbos seem more reliable but PTE isn't as unreliable as you think.

If someone gave me $1700 shipped/paypal'd for my new HTA3586 w/Tial v-band in/out .82 housing right now I will order a 6466.

The HTA86 is more fun on the street because it spools faster but the 6466 will make more power. Some might think the gain in power doesn't offset the loss in spool but that all depends on what you plan to do with the car. A slightly laggier turbo would also improve gas mileage when your not being fast and furious. One of the best tuners that Tampa has to offer told me that the 6466 only spools 4-500 rpm faster than a 6766...

Does anyone know what the spool difference is between the hta86 and 6766?

Maybe it was from the old school turbos that gave me that impression, but at the same time PTE is known for that in the pas.... maybe they've changed with these new turbos, who knows. We just have to wait and see.

I dont have any boost plots but from looking at graphs I would say the hta86 hits about 1000rpm+ sooner. Then throw in the fact that the 6766 will make 100whp+ easily over the hta86.

In the end it just depends on what you want to do... highway runs the big boys i.e. 6766 and 3794 will do work, but the hta3586, 6266, and 6466 will still give stupid amounts of power.

OP, you should look into the HTA3786, basically like the 3586 but a little more in it.

Didn't even know about that 3786 until you posted it, interesting but for that price I will run the 6466. You can almost by a built bottom end for what FP turbos are costing now a days.

Yeah I called FP a few weeks ago and asked them about the 3786 and they said it will make a little more than the 3586, but really depends on what the motor likes.

Yeah thats crazy, hmmmm built bottom end or brand new fp turbo

Yeah I saw the 3786 on FP's web site. What would the power out put be on that turbo? Is the FP3786 = to PTE6766? It would be nice and all but they jacked up there prices. And on top of that they use Tial housing on them and they are on back order for the housings. So I don't even know if it is even possible to even get one.

The 3786 is like a 3586 with a bigger inducer, thats all. It isnt close to the power a 6766 will make but it will bring boost on sooner... as for how soon, who knows
