Evo IX 6 speed Broken Bellhousing by workshop / please help.
Hello,
so i will explain what happened today.
i left my evo IX to a workshop in order to change my clutch and fix my AYC pump.
At about 8pm tonight, i've got a text message from my workshop saying they got a pretty big problem with the clutch.
they told me the clutch pressure plate had a problem and broke while the engine was running at around 900rpm .
It also broke the bellhousing of my gearbox.
they told me it is a bellhousing failure and off course, i've got to replace the broken parts by my own as it is an aftermarket clutch...
so my questions are...
is there a way that the bellhousing broke after a pressure plate problem?
is there a way that my pressure plate (brand new) broke as well?
and then, is there a way to make something against the brand of the clutch as it broke my bellhousing and as i have no more clutch now...
please let me know guys... i really need help on this
what i can do.... i dont want to spend fortune trying to get my ix fixed because of a clutch failure or of a dumb workshop...
thanks

i still do not know all details...
i am waiting for some more informations
but the thing is, the bell housing is dead, the pressure plate too...
and now the question,
where i can find a bell housing for the 6 speed box?
is it the same as the 5 speed box?
do you think it is possible that a pressure plate just broke? or do the workshop is trying to tell me some bull**** to avoid any problems?

I guess anything is possible but kinda unlikely imo. Do you mind sharing the type of clutch/flywheel that was being installed. Also getting an I idea of where the bell housing broke would be more helpful.
Its also possible to weld the broken the cast aluminum bell housing back together and machine it down to previous shape by a good machine shop, if you can't find a bell housing.

i do not know the clutch type that was fitted as it is an aftermarket stage 3 clutch.
it should be an ACT clutch i think, but i'll ask the confirmation of the workshop... anyway, they wont guarantee anything because it is not an aftermarket clutch

You need to get a visual on this and make sure at the very least that the story stands uo, like there is a crunched PP and the inside of the bell housing shows an impact point and they just didnt drop it installing it and expect you to pay for it.. Just a thought, story sounds far fetched.

shipping from the us to europe will cost probably too much

but thanks anyway.
the pressure plate of the clutch kit really do broke. i've seen the damage and it does broke without reason... even if it was not fitted properly it wont broke here, on the side of the pressure plate ...
and i recon that will be not the clutch manufacturer that will pay for the damage or for a new clutch kit...
damn
