So my bellhousing cracked on my 03 evo. I have a friend that is selling a used 03 evo bellhousing for $150. Is that a good price? What should I look for?

I cracked one on an SE-R some years back and paid 250 new from the dealer--sounds good to me---check it for cracks and pry marks--clean it so you can see it and give it the once over.

 

I found a hairline Fracture in mine when cleaning it up to look better after a rebuilt, The fracture might have been about 3 inches long, So instead of trying to find a bellhousing i went to a Professional Welding shop and had them Weld it. They allowed me to wait while they did it, And used some Type of white powder after they were done to see if the weld was perfect and didnt have any gaps, they said it will turn RED if there is a issue with the weld. It didnt, it was perfect and they assured me its now the strongest part of the bellhousing. This cost me in total $100 bucks.
The Crack was located on the top of the housing, It can always be fixed they said UNLESS its in a spot where a bolt goes thru, like a eyehole.

So for 150 for a new housing is good, Unless its all together already and you just wanna slap it back in. Cause your going to NEED to reshim the shafts with the new housing. Keep in mind the shims are $15 a peice, youll need 3, or maybe none cause your old ones might be inspec, It all depends After you measure.

 

Just weld it and you should be good ,it will even be stronger than before and it will cost you less.

 

It's actually the Fork Rod mount that broke off. No welding there lol

 

top bolt hole on rear mount split and broke off my bellhousing. Only have the two bottom bolts securing the mount and the one top one rattling around on threads. Looking for a bellhousing to replace mines. Will travel for pick up in or around MO! Let me know what you have and how much shipped or pick up! Evo up!!
