AEM ecu questions, help needed!

Hey guys,

Long story short, my buddy is parting out his evo 9 MR and his AEM ecu. He also has his boost controller by means of an AEM truboost.

I was going to take his AEM ecu and his aem tru boost (as my boost gauge and boost controller). In return I was going to give him my boost gauge(I don't like it that much anyway), my stock ecu, and can I just buy him a brand new hallman mbc to complete the swap?

Pretty newbie questions, but any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Stay stock ecu. If you don't know anything about AEM's you will hate it. I was on a series 1 AEM EMS from almost day one on my evo, and it ran butter smooth for me, however I have been running AEM's for a long time, and just like anything it is only as good as the tune.

Well I'm going with a bigger build so I will need that aem. Just need to know what else is needed in terms of the swap

WB O2, MAP Sensor, AIT Sensor, done.

The ecu should be plug and play. After you plug it in, off to get a tune.

As far as running big power and needing an AEM, this forum has tons of 700+whp guys on the stock ECU running speed density. If I was going to buy an AEM EMS it would only be the infinity, it is so much nicer than the Series 1/2 units.

Also make sure that your tuner knows how to tune AEM.

For sure the stock ecu really isn't capped at any power level. Don't think you need aem to make power.

I run a vi-pec and anticipate less power than stock ecu due to margin of safety. The stock ecu has amazingly qualified knock control. Consider that.
