Building a destroker - help needed
Building a destroker - help needed
Hi,
Can anyone help
Engine is running destroker pistons
4G63 head mivec
4g64 block
88mm crank
156mm rods
HKS cam gear
Mivec gear still there
Everything was built but
- the timing belt is loose
-what settings should cam gear be retard to ?
Before car was tuned, the valves in the head was damaged .
Can anyone please help ? What went wrong .
Build 2
156 mm rods
100mm crank
87mm pistons
4g64 bottom and mivec head.
Does the mivec create the problems of hitting the valves ?
Thanks

Sounds like you are having a hydraulic tensioner issue. I had that same problem and kept bending valves. I would recommend changing it.
On build 2 the rods are too long for the 100mm crank if you are using non stroker 87mm pistons. They should be 150mm rods if you are using regular 87mm pistons that could be the reason why you are hitting valves because the stroke on the crank with those length rods are pushing the piston too hight at TDC. Otherwise than that it could be the timing isnt set right or the clearance between head and block could be too close. What head gasket are you using?

Thanks and I would look into the tensioner .
I am using power enterprise head gasket 1.5 mm and I am my compression is 9:0:1
Using a full race header with 6466 turbo .
