so you were drag racing? So it was a longitudinal G for maybe a 2 sec, then you would shift oil will slosh back and forth, the the longitudinal G would taper down to i dunno .6-.7G continuous? I am holding a lateral 1.2-1.3G for 6-10s.

Yes this was in a straight line. It did 1.3g in first 1.1g in second and .9g in third. 0-112 in 6.66 seconds. have no data on oil pressure losses during slosh, but they certainly must have been there. it was a street car so suspension was compliant. car lifted enough to drag the exhaust pipe in the rear.

and holding it at 5k rpm.
Oil pump output is directly related to engine rpm. Oil is pumped out of the pan faster at high rpm, and if you're holding high G's at the same time the oil will pack up on the side of the block/head instead of draining back down to the pan.

FP is on the right track when they point out that at .7G the oil stands at a 30* angle in the pan. At 1G the oil stands at 45*. At 1.3G cornering force the oil stands more vertically, add an extra 2* for body roll and the oil is approaching 55*! At that point on a hard right hand corner the oil is almost entirely pooled in cylinder #4. This is why the hardcore RR guys use dry sumps. You need a separate pump to bring the oil back to the pickup tube.

Has anyone done a test to see how much extra oil can be added in the pan safely without the crank hitting the oil level and creating bubbles?

Great info! I dont do track events but I am glad that I have some oil control already with the Kiggly HLA, Buschur Baffled Oil pan, and Cosworth Crank Scraper.

Ah Shuks, I read the title and thought a viable non ds fix was inside.

Trying to see what oil pressures people have now when launching with all these "fixes" (aka buschur oil pan, crank scraper, kiggly hla) out there besides a dry sump. I've been trying to find data as far as pressure goes and it seemsno one monitors oil pressure after these fixes are installed.

Good info, FP!
