I'll have a rebuild in mind. I would definitely wait for these to be produced. When do you think you will make the decision to start production on them or not? And are you going to announce the start of production, or just going to wait till the first batch is done?

This thread is a pretty good barometer of the interest level. I would love to do a set on my next trans refresh as well.

UPDATE:

The response to this thread is much better than I expected!

I am sending some OEM samples to the manufacturing engineer to have drawings made so I can get an exact quote for tooling and production on the 5 speed 4-7 and 8-9 sets. I should have a quote in a couple weeks and will make the decision at that time.

I really appreciate the input and will keep you all posted as we move forward.

Thanks - David

This is just what the evo needs. If I ever need to rebuild, these will be going in.

I volunteer my transmission for testing lol. I'm definitely interested! Synchros seem to be a weak link for us.

Also interested.

EVO 5-speed is tough, but not the best shifting one, and 5th gear synchro fails even after multiple part update.

Hope this will improve shifting and synchro lifetime.

Does this also mean we can now use GL-5 grade gear oils? GL-4 was recommended because brass synchros are corroded with EP additive of GL-5 gear oils.

Although not sure GL-5 is any better for shifting though.

Subie guys have good results with Redline 75W90NS / 75W140NS, so it would be interesting to try 75W90NS if GL-5 can be used thanks to carbon synchros.

and for $300 its a cheaper option than buying a 5 speed!
