Thoughts on Using a primary universal 02 Sensor.

Im going to be doing an evo 9 turbo swap on my 8 in about a week. Im very anxious about the 02 housing and the stock 02 sensor not coming out.. Im thinking about getting a universal Bosch 02 and soldering the stock connector onto it. Any thoughts on this?

2 things.

1. Are they that much cheaper?
2. I recommend wire crimps over solder on the Evo. Solder is more susceptible to vibration cracks. I'd really suggest a combination of the two.
3. If you have access to impact, the sensor should pop right out. If you're using breaker bar/heat or whatever... good luck. You probably won't be able to apply enough torque.

You may want to look into the denso replacement 02, its only about 50 and comes with the stock connector already installed. If that's still too expensive for you I have a used one that I can sell you for $20, I replace mine every 6k since they're so cheap but I think I have one that only has 4.5k on it cuz I replaced my oil early so I could put the oem oil return line back on.

length of wut? the cable? It's a direct replacement o2, cable is just a lil longer by like an inch ish but nothing that makes them difficult to install. and denso makes the oem one, they just don't stamp Mitsubishi on it.

Oh no the reason I was asking wasnt for the replacement. In general do you know if stock length will work with aftermarket 02. I read somewhere I need to cut and solder extension wires anyway -_-

No I run the densos and like I said change them every 6k n I've replaced them 3 times now never had to splice or solder anything, I think that's mostly for the universal ones you have to splice into the stock wiring. The denso isn't like an o2 for a mazda that fits our car too, it's a direct replacement for the oem one specifically for the evo.

It's the same Denso part# used in the Mitsubishi Endeavor and Montero of various years.

Regardless, it is a quality part. Nearly identical to the stock o2 sensor.
