To be fair, its got about 0.3mm of slop, and its got a whopping 93k miles on this turbo, so both debris and prop rub are likely. Any ballparks on a rebuild?

Looks like you may have taken in some small particles as the ends of the inner CW blades are marred a tiny bit. Overall it does not look like you have had much contact with the CW hitting the CC. If you did have a lot of contact you would start to see the outer edge fold back or create uneven wear marks on the CW. I have a 9 turbo that has seen excessive slop and wore out the outside of the CW that I may be able to upload as a reference for you later in the morning when home.

Much appreciated. Curious about a rebuild ballpark, or some ideas on an aftermarket upgrade that fits like factory, and just replace the whole thing.

I personally think you got your scarring from whatever your turbo ate and not excessive shaft play, however I'm not a turbo expert.
