Crank Walk, Fuuuuuuu!!!
No one offered to have me come by to see the oil after they had drained it.

They might be giving you the run around as checking for walk is very easy to do. Using a prybar on the crankshaft bolt you force the crank all the way to the driver's side of the car, and then have someone depress the clutch. Usually you would have a dial indicator set up on the crankshaft bolt side, magnetic base hanging from the frame rail, zero'd out with the crank on the driver's side, and measuring play when the clutch is fully depressed. In your case, if they are telling the truth of .25" you wouldn't even need the gauge as that level of play is absurdly high and of course very visible.
I really doubt your car would be running with .25" of play as that would have taken out your crank position sensor a long while ago.

Thank you for your insight. Highly appreciated....
Do you have any mechanically inclined friends that can check this?
Either way I dont think your crank walked. It is extremely uncommon on an evo. They may have been trying to get you due to that it used to be a common issue. If your crank didnt walk, call the BBB and report it. We dont need shops like that ripping people off thousands of dollars.
Im glad you caught them in their lie and Im glad you got a second opinion on here!!

Why is everyone jumping on the shops case? Likely the OP got the crank endplay measurement wrong as someone else mentioned.
If I was working on a car and measured endplay of 0.025" I wouldn't bother to check the oil for metal shavings. Once the endplay is out of spec you have a problem. End of story. It's not as if endplay can be out of spec but since the oil looks clean then it's all good.
You can have crankwalk and not know. The first sign maybe the sound of the crank trigger brushing the sensor. This is not such a loud and horrible noise and it can happen for a little while before it takes out the sensor.
Before you move your car, go down there and look at the endplay for yourself.
