Clutch wont fully disengage.

Hello guys this is my first post! I just got a 06 EVO ix and love the car. I have some issues that just started and im trying to resolve been searching for two days and just need a little input. The car has an Exedy twin disk and I believe a hydraulic TOB.
I was trouble shooting and tried to find the slave cylinder only to find out its gone so engagement appears to be coming from a steel braided line to top of bellhousing. I have adjusted the clutch pedal and seemed to not change much... Theres one steel line loose I believe thats a bleeder not sure how to bleed this thing like that.
Im finding it hard to go into gear from neutral the clutch isn't fully disengaged but if I throw a slight rev it will go easy but without a rev I can feel the car move forward when going for first gear. theres a slight whine until clutch disengages then goes away till I release pedal this is from neutral car drives fine once moving. I would just like to get this resolved so I dont damage the tranny. any help would be appreciated!

I have attached a clutch release test below from John Sheppard. This helped diagnose a TOB clutch clip failure I had about 6 months ago.

I believe the hydraulic TOB with the Exedy clutch is an AMS product which ShepTrans also sells.

AMS or ShepTrans can help once you have the test results. AMS should have the bleeding procedure for the hydraulic TOB.

Hope this helps.

The easiest and most accurate way to do the clutch release test is to get all four tires in the air by placing the car on a hoist.

1. Start the engine, push the clutch in and put the car into 1st gear.

2. Slowly let the clutch out until the wheels start to turn. At this point the clutch pedal should be at least 2-3 inches off the carpet

3. Now push the clutch in all the way.. Hold the clutch at this position and rev to launch rpm or minimum 5000 rpm. The wheels should NOT spin. If the wheels spin this means the clutch is dragging and this WILL damage synchronizers.

will do this to mine, really nice and simple test. recently replaced burned out clutch masters to 3+ SPEC clutch and since then, i have a grinding noise while in neutral and depressed clutch. when i press the clutch it goes away. releasing clutch slowly will cause a hard clank and steady hopping of clutch engaging which is annoying as hell. can tell if clutch is grabing too hard or there is something else lose.... im running shep modded TC on fact tranny and fact oils. braided line for clutch
and fidanza aluminum flywheel and a brand new surface. everything was torque to spec when the clutch was replace.

If you have already been working with ShepTrans I'm not going to try and out diagnose the master, I'd give John or Trevor a call.

I think you are saying you get a grinding noise with the trans in neutral and depressing the clutch causes a grinding noise. It sound like you have problems before even trying the clutch release test. If you inspect the TOB and wedge collar thru the hole in the bottom of the bellhousing do the fingers on the wedge collar all look good?

Another item which can cause this symptom is crank walk which I hope is not the problem. There is an active thread on this topic now.

Good luck!!!
