not true.

exhaust gases drive the turbo, not the other way around.

how can you generate extra boost if the system is clogged.

sadly, there isnt any data for review.....who knows what he was making for boost, before & after parts swap, let alone what the afr's are....

something is not right. weather it is the car or E-Spec we can not tell you. but i have noticed several of the cars he tuned last year at the shootout did not make it home. i also have a friend who he tuned and the car blew the bottom end leaving the shop. this was on a mid mileage, well maintained, 35hp car.

the evo X's they tune do not match dyno/track times. nor do they sound like they are running clean down the track.

IMO go to STM. they are a well rounded group of guys and will at least help you figure out your issue if its mechanically related.

+100000000. Not gonna hate on erkel here as I just quoted this post for the guys comments for STM. Erk's X's seem to run alright but there's room for improvement with every car. Even my own. What I can comment on is that if you live in upstate NY there should be no question as to where you take your Evo to. Emery is probably one of the top Evo tuners in the country and Austin and Cory are some of the best techs for these cars in my opinion. I know it's comparing apples to oranges but my stock engine, stock turbo e85 Evo X made 380/393 on their dyno. Your car should make similar power I would think as the 9 turbo is better. There is either something mechanically wrong, or it's tune related, or a combination of the 2. It might cost you some money for the guys to check it out but in the long run I'd consider it money well spent if it saves you a motor or head or any combination of the 2. 585-226-8226. Figured I'd save you the hassle of looking up the shop number

After demanding the logs on Instagram. He said he is sending them first thing tomorrow morning. Now the cam timing, wouldn't a tuner be able to pick that up ??

Its not something that would show up on a log. If you had adjustable gears the tuner could try to advance the cams between pulls and interpret what the power curve is doing.

EDIT: I see you have a 9 so the tuner should be able to mess with the mivec setting to a certain point. That is if its the intake cam that is off.

What are you talking about? I never said back pressure causes extra boost? I said it'll stop producing any positive pressure with a clogged system, i.e no more boost, i.e boost cut. I think you're thinking of boost cut in a sense that it's producing more boost than it's supposed to.. No I literally mean boost cutting off.

If your tuner is more pre occupied with social media than customer service, then that tells you something right there. Get your logs and/or just find another shop. He had the time to be on that crap but doesn't have the time to do his job, wtf.

There's no point in asking for the logs as technically they are intellectual property of erkel. And honestly what are you going to do with them? Best bet is to count it as a loss and just move on

Sort of agree. You can get the logs to see it anything is jumping out. But I would get some logs of your own and get you car in the hands of someone else.

No matter what you chose you really should just buy a cable. I think if this as a must have for any Evo owner

Yeah he isn't sending the logs as he lied once again. I will get the logs to see if anything jumps out as me and everyone else. I can't believe someone is this corrupt and unprofessional. E-spec is officially a lost cause.
