Help. Running around 50 in cylinder # 3 a day after timing belt done. There was also rusty like dust all over that plug and boot. Any ideas????

Yeah, about 30 miles after the belt was done the CEL came on. So we went from there.

check your timing, if it is good do a leak down test.

Pull off your upper timing cover (4 bolts) and check your timing like someone else already suggested.

In case you need help checking your timing - Copied from the Timing Belt How To Thread:

"Before you remove the Timing Belt Lower Cover, you need to align the Camshaft Sprockets (cam gears), and the Crankshaft Sprocket to TDC. Using the Breaker Bar, turn the Crankshaft Sprocket Clockwise until the Camshaft Sprockets and Crankshaft Sprocket align with TDC. Note the Timing Marks (notches) on the Valve Cover. The Crankshaft Sprocket should also align with the “T” on the Timing Belt Lower Cover."

Also check your timing belt for any slack or over tightness.

Did you change any other parts when you did the timing belt?

don't drive like that beause you may break your valves or your cylinders if your timing is off

My Compression in C#3 was around 50.. The rest was around 160-170, my car seems to run just fine. Does that sound right to you guys??? Bump!

just because it start run doesn't make it alright , check your timing and get it fix ASAP, if you do not and you bent a valve it going to be a expensive lesson to learn. you have low compression C#3 meaning that you either out off alignment, the cylinder isn't holding compression due to off timing or you bent a valve. fix your timing then do a compression test again if nothing chances you might have a bend valve .

Agreed. You're going to need to find time to double check and address any issues ASAP. Pull your upper timing cover and double check that everything aligns with TDC, then do your compression test. If #3 is still low do a leak down test. DO NOT drive with numbers like that. Also, when you do your compression test make sure you do it the exact same way for each cylinder or your numbers could be off. The last time I ran one I was in a hurry and missed a step which threw off my numbers, luckily that's all it was. Good luck man!
