Can I run 280 cams on a stock motor?

I recently attempted to order 272's for my ix. After a f-up they are sending me 280 instead. I originally wanted 272 because it was my impression that was as big as a stock set up could go, which I am. I am not able to send them back due to a no return policy. So now that I have them can they be run on a stock set up?

What brand cams are they as that will depend on whether you can use them on the factory set up. For example i run HKS 280's on the factory valve train, but for Kelford 272's you need to uprate the valve train.

Who did you buy them through? If its there fault sending you the wrong ones they SHOULD wave the no returns since it wasn't your fault..IF you don't want to put them on blast can you please PM me? As far as the cams, I would just upgrade the springs and retainers anyways if it is in your car budget. Just for a piece of mind. You could always talk to the tuner and they might be safe under a certain RPM limit.

its a small tune shop in socal i know them from being in the area before, originally they said 272 was as big as i should go now that they sent me 280 their saying that they will be ok in a stock set up so not sure which statement i should trust....if i was to keep them and not try to re sell them, are the springs and retainers all that i need to change or do i need to change more ie:rocker arms, lifters

sounds fishy to me. What is the name of the shop? I used to live in socal and if it who I am thinking of, this is exactly the type of shady stuff that I expect.

If you paid for cams you didn't get then you need to demand a refund or exchange. There is no such thing as a "well I sent the wrong product, but there's no return policy so you are going to have to just deal with that".

I can sell you cams, and do the install if you need someone to do so. I think you emailed me and i responded back.

Also Thanks for mentioning my name ckevo8rs.

Whenever someone mentions "tscompusa" on here it sends me a notice.

If it took that much work to get it right, I'd take my business elsewhere if I were you. Shops like this one give the industry a bad rep.
