M1 0w-40 is one of the few oils thats Porsche and BMW approved. Its good stuff! You can get it at Walmart cheap. Amsoil is a great oil too but you pay for it.

Ya at $22 for a 5 quart jug at walmart, is a nice deal. I have never been a Mobil 1 fan, but I admit this is good oil. I like the fact that I can drive down the street and pick it up as well. There have been some folks that sent UOAs of this stuff and posted it on my oil analysis thread, along with mulitple UOAS on the internet. specs out pretty good for our evos. Its Porsche,BMW, and Benz approved for AMG and SLS.

The shops or people around your place that are telling you to stay away from AMSOIL have no clue what they are talking. . Many evo's using AMO, Zrod, SSO with great success. Agreed

Let me say it this way Brad Penn a low group 3 oil AMSOIL a group 4 oil.. no brainer which one to use.... i want to best for my engine which is why I choose to use AMSOIL or Motu. TThere is no BEST. How many times do we all have to go over this
Not this again haha

Your opinion based on ZERO facts is like saying there is no truth no absolutes... go and test different oils in different engines, work with this on a daily basis to get some experience and then come here and share. But for now all you have to share is feelings and opinions and these will get you no where facts will teach you.

Saying there is no best oil is foolish.. Let me put it this way and tip the community. . Whichever company is using a group 4 or 5 oil has the best oil whoever is using a group 3 or 2 does not. ..

...I know it may be bad to say, but I do find it entertaining when you two go at it. Sometimes this forum can be a bit slow, but you two always make it lively.

This. Every time I see an oil thread I think "oh boy, how long before the next episode of oil drama?"

Have you guys ever tried to find a common ground to agree on?

I've used Amsoil ever since getting my Evo and will continue to do so as long as the UOA I have done keep coming back looking good. That said, I have no doubts that there are other oils out there that are also perfectly suited for our cars.
