Well this sucks....

OK guys i am new at this club, i just got my evo 4 days ago i was SOOOO excited before i bought it because in evry mag. i saw they put evo vs, high performance cars like s4,m3, porches ect.. so this car should be fast right i mean the mag records 0-60 times around 4.8-4.9! so this car shold be FAST!! well i bought it.. and i am not happy with its performance! i mean yeah it give you a boost but it dies out! around 5500-6000 redline, what the hell and when i shift it takes time to accerate! wtf man.. well what the hell can i do to keep this power of boost going to redline. i was reading about aftermarket BOV's and they say CBV are better cause they keep the turbo spooled between shifts unlike BOV that are atmosphere type, (eg. greedy type-s). i mean it should be a little faster for 30k car. if i wanted slow i would of gone with a luxury car for 30k. what can i do to this snail on crack to push its shell faster!!

Hmmmmm. Maybe there's something wrong with yours, or was your previous car just really fast?

Hi and welcome!

What octane gas are you using? Also, an aftermarket BOV will do nothing for performance unless your stock one is leaking.

Cmon people you could have just told him to get a boost controller (do a search on them) and a ECU reflash of some sort (dynoflash, turbotrix or some kind of AF controller) - again do a search.

It could just be the factory boost taper, at around 6400 rpms the ECU reduces boost from 19 psi peak to about 16.5 psi.

A dynoflash from Al will change that.

Honestly, grab a 10MM Socket wrench, open the hood, and Tighten ALL the IC clamps that you see, take off teh stock intake ram air piece as there are some under it, Mine leaked and I only had 15 PSI, tightened, wala 19PSI and WAY faster.

The car IS fast.. you just dont notice it coz of the setup and suspension.. what you'll notice is that if u drive 100mph.. it feels like you're driving at 60mph.. at 150mph.. feels like 100mph...

Secondly... If you want to compare it to supped up muscle cars.. throw in a T78 turbine kit and a stroker kit ... u're looking at 600+whp that will wack a 700hp Cobra on the head like it was standing still.. and all from a measly 2.2 litre engine..

Third, in stock condition, I'm pretty sure it still beat all the cars you mentioned in a circuit track with lots of bends.. coz this car's home ground are windy and bad roads....it'll take all the punishment and come back drooling for more...

Wait a minute...did you actually test drive this car before you bought it or did the dealer not let you have a test drive and you relied on what magazines said. Even with the drop off in boost, this car is stock is way to quick for the normal streets. What car are you coming from?

Break-In

Maybe I read your post wrong??? But if you have only had your car 4 days, maybe you should be following the recommended break-in procedure.....then worry about redlining your car

Not sure about you guys, but I had mine broken in by the fourth day. Just happened to have alot lot of free time then. As for the power, I think it's delivery is so smooth that it's just not the "seat of your pants" type you may be expecting.

I bought this car with no intentions of leaving it stock. If modifying the car is an option for you I'd go with what advan8 said and have a 12 second car for a little over 30k.

you just have to mod it a bit and you'll run mid to low 12s. meaning 3in turboback, a boost controler to hold boost 20psi, and ECU reflash for $200 and that's it.
