Stock 4g64 block power

So after 4 years apart I picked up my 2003 8 that I sold when I got married and had kids. Unfortunately it's in bad shape since when I sold it. Bottomend has 2 pistons with cracked ring lands and 2 spun rod bearings. The plan is to build a stroker bottom for it but money is an issue right now. The car came with an ATP 35r kit, Spark Tech COP setup, sheet metal intake mani and GSC 272. My question is has anyone ever used a totally stock 4G64 bottom on low boost. Really just wanna get this car running for now. I found a 2000 galant 64 for 300 bucks locally with decently low miles. Would it be stupid to throw this together and get it tuned on low boost for now?

i wouldn't go past 200 crank on the block

My recommendation is convert to speed density and drive with one of the intercooler lines off

I know people who have made 500whp on stock 4G64 block but it is a risky proposition. I would either rebuild the 2.0 or sell 2.0 block and build the 2.4. If you run ethanol you could get away with it better.

Thanks for the input. I wish I could run e85 but the closest station is almost an hr away. So that's out of the question for now.
