Engine whine
Engine whine
Hey folks,
I recently had my timing service done, ever since I've been having a whining sound come from the timing cover area. It's almost a hissing high pitched sound(similair to a fuel pump sound but louder). I have read through a few thread's on here, and no one ever listed what the solution was. The things suggested were: Timing tensioner too tight, B-shaft tensioner too tight, and AC pulley. Does anyone know what is causing this?
I have a video of it as well.

The guy who did the timing service is going to take a look at the car tomorrow. It definitely started right after the service, and is coming from that area. Extreme PSI left out the balance tensioner so he re-used my stock one. That may be the culprit, but also i just bought the car in Feb. and the timing service had been done before the 60k mark. I did it just as a precaution. So it shouldn't have been the original tensioner, if that makes a difference.
Check your accessory belt tensioner ... That thing can whine when going out!
Hard to hear in your video but my tensioner would whine at idle while revving the motor and while cruising.... If you jack your car up on the passenger side, remove wheel or turn all the way to one side use a long prybar or screwdriver, touch the tensioner and feel for vibration ... careful with the serpentine belt while the engine is on.
