Whining as RPMs increase

Had my timing belt done 3 months ago and I've had this whine ever since (OEM belts/pulleys - gates water pump):

I checked the timing belt @ top dead center and its not too tight:

Alternator whine? Pulley? Anyone seen this before?

Most noticeable around 2-3.5k. Happens while driving and in neutral.

Removed the belts, rotated all the accessory pulleys and everything seems okay.

Used a mechanics stethoscope and it seems that its coming from under the power steering/AC which I think is the front case and maybe the oil pump?

How do you remove the front case?

If it didn't whine before the belt and all that was done was the belt then ....................

Power steering can whine if it's low on fluid or has some air in the lines. Might want to check the fluid level to rule that out since you said it sound like it's coming from that area.

"Whinning as RPMs increase"

My buddy had this EXACT same problem, turned out to be his girlfriend...

On a serious note, check your fluid level. My PS pump had a whine when my belt was a tad too tight.
