30% HP increase in OZ rally Lancer?

Sorry for the cross posting...but I think it might be more applicable here,

Hey Guys/Gals,

I was shopping around for the new Lancer, and I test drove the new OZ edition... complaining about the horsepower, the salesperson said Mitsubishi realized the demand in more HP and just released a new
$600 chip upgrade for the engine, claiming a 30% increase in HP, roughly about 120 to 156HP (which is very nice)

Has anyone else heard anything about this chip upgrade from Mitsubishi?

Thanks
C

Sounds like a super optimistic number. You might see that on a turbo vehicle where upping the boost can yeild dramatic results, but 30% increase on a small 4 cyl engine just form a chip sounds like dealer talk (read: BS) to me.

Definitely sounds like garbage... that much increase in horsepower from a chip on an n/a motor isn't very likely... if at all possible. It would also cost more than $600.

Thumbs down 30% increase

Sorry to burst your bubble about a 30% increase in HP. I work at a dealership and have NOT heard anything about this. Not even in our Tech-Talk.

I wish ...

Although the ECU is prolly programmed to be decent, the Lancer OZ's hp will show only nominal gains with a reprogram or a chip add-on. 156 without an intake or exhaust is kinda decent for a SOHC 4-banger. Can a SOHC engine even be turbo-charged and still last a long time without frequent cam/cam gear rebuilds?
