I don't want to mention the shop because I'm not ready for the flaming from all the shop supporters, though I am a supporter of this shop and will continue to purchase their products even after this incident, it's just that their engine building seems to have gone downhill for some period now for some reason. There have been higher complaints about their engines over the past few months, maybe this will give you a hint.

I'll be going with a different shop but I haven't decided yet, I have a few to choose from.

Hope your next build treats you well!

I built a budget 2.0 for my wrx wagon a few years back. Kept having trouble melting off plugs in one cylinder on e85. Finally found that one of my ID1000's had a piece of junk in it from day one of putting it together - so I had tuned around it being partially plugged. Fixed that, made 509whp (60psi base fuel pressure for those wondering how on 1000cc inj)

Something was never quite right.. high oil consumption etc. Anyway turned out that CP piston had a nice inverted dome from getting so hot.. cylinder walls were destroyed from eating plugs...

Sometimes crap does happen... hopefully your free of it for a while.

I am really interested in any photos you might have. I have a car that does the same thing. Checked the rod bearings already and they are 100% perfect.

I am wondering if a piston collapsed and is rocking in the bore.

I tried to get some pictures but was surprised to find out that the shop owner is on vacation for a couple of months with my car inside his shop lol... Unless he comes back earlier, there might not be any pictures anytime in the very near future, I'm sorry.
