Timing Belt Noise after Service... Help !!

So I have a noise on my 2006 evo IX (25k Miles) coming from the timing belt area AFTER all belts, pulleys and bracket were changed out at the dealer.

Please keep in mind I read the thread on the IX noise which is why I had the bracket (the supposed fix) changed out along with all other parts from that thread.

It use to have a slight noise though now it has irregular ticks (less and less so) and a SCRUBBING like noise very much like what is in the videos

All parts are OEM from Mitsubishiparts.net

I also checked my PS fluid and topped it off per one of the videos.

Thanks

definitely doesn't sound like the issue caused with the bracket. sounds more like they screwed something up

take it back and have them look it over and fix it

Right, but as I'm sure you know if you don't tell the service place what might be wrong they will say "it's within spec" or otherwise.

I'm sure someone on here has had this problem or knows what it is (as there are video's of it)

There are some really good shops around here but I want to get an idea what it might be first.

sometimes the tbelt will whine if they set the tension too tight. check the deflection on the belt and compare it to the factory specs. usually its like an 1/8 inch of deflection or something similar.

It's more of a scrubbing sound than a whine like the 3 videos above but you are right I will have a shop check for it being overtightend.

I did speak to the service shop about it being too tight when I first noticed the noise the next morning but he said it was all done and torqued to factory

balance shaft wine?, I would still go with one of the two belts being over tightened, it is very easy to over tighten the balance shaft belt. Take it somewhere else, or take it apart and inspect it your self.

This might be a silly response but I had a similar issue. what type of belt did you go with? After replacing everything during my timing belt service it ended up being the Gates belt was a bit wider maybe a faulty belt idk. but it was rubbing every so slightly causing the noise. I switched to a different belt and noise went away..

^ unfortunately its all OEM from mitsubishi parts.net It still makes the noise hot or cold especially once it goes to normal idle, after the warm up.

My schedule sucks but I think I will have some time by next week to take it in.

so far suggestions are

overtightened
PS fluid low (checked and ok)

Any parts that can be installed backwards????? The new bracket which is suppose to make the noise go away is already in

THANKS for any more suggestions

Took it to a shop and the tensioner was on a little tight. I was hoping it would be gone but the noise is still present.

Me an Orion4096 (on another thread on "bearing noise") are at a loss as to what to try next.

Seemed to me that when the serp belt was taken off the noise was gone, but the shop was running short on time so we couldnt delve into this deeper. Wish I had more money lying around to get it checked out.

any other suggestions.

My car makes a high pitched squeaking noise. Could be a bearing but I will try the ps top off and see what happens. I already have a new tensioner pulley and belt. It began the week after I had to change the alternator and ac compressor. I wasn't thrilled doing those in a week of each other.

^ High pitched is probably Serp belt related. There are a slew of threads out there to test if it is serp belt related but the ones some of us are having is more of a scrubbing noise
