i just drained the oil and....

so i am doing an oil change, this is my first one and i drained the oil into an old oil container, so isnt the evo 9 sump suppose to hold around 5.3 litres?...well the total oil i got out of it came to around 4 litres....and i checked the dip stick before i drained it and it seemed full. Is there oil normally sitting in the engine that hasnt come out or is this normal? Oh by the way this oil includes the oil filter oil too as i dropped that oil out too. Anddd i jacked up the car just enough to get my hand under drop out the sump plug so its not sitting up on ramps, its pretty flat.

You gotta flip the car up-side-down and then drill the oil cooler to get all of it out.

The filter has absorbed some, and there's some in the oil cooler that won't all drain out. I always drain less than what I put back in as well, no worries.

You could take a line off. Not really worth it IMO. Most of it should come out of the filter housing.

i let it stand over night and got a furher couple of cup fulls out...it took 5 litres exactly, so I still have .3 litres of black mixing in. it would be nice to be able to hand crank the engine and push the rest out of the cooler

You're way to concerned about it IMO. I just drain it, remove filter, let drain for 30 mintes, pour a quart of new cheap oil through it with the drain plug out. Then replace the filter plug it up and fill it. My oil stays fairly clear/gold for over 500 miles..
