Will the Evo 8 starter fit on the Evo 9? I see there is a huge price difference on the evo 8 and 9 starter, $200 and $500, respectively.

Not the same starter. It may fit but defiantly not the same starter. It's about double the cost that's why this questions is being asked.

Its the same thing with evo 8 vs evo 9 water pump. I ran a gates evo 8 water pump on my 9 with no issues. You just dont use the one bracket. 60$ vs 250$

 

My EVO IX has the starter on the bottom of the car and my brothers evo 8 is not located in that same spot. His ralli art J pipe does not fit my vehicle because it does not clear the starter so there is a difference...

 

Then you're bothers car is not actually an evo....because all the starter motors from evo 4 to 9 are all in the same spot.

This is more so due to a turbo difference....not a difference in the starter motor.
