Help!!!
Hi, GUYS, I AM A NOOB for the evo family, and I am also new for this fourm. I bought a evo 9 rs, with exedy twin diisc clutch in her, and short shifer. but sometimes she is really hard to shift, specially reverse is the hardest to shift in to it, and sometimes when i try to put in first gear, I can feel the car moves a little bit, I dont know if thats normal. Please help me guys!!! I dont know what wrong with my car. the car pulls hard, nothing wrong with it. just hard to shift.
The clutch is dragging. It will destroy synchronizers very quickly. You need to get up under the dash and extend the clutch push rod out. Theres a write up on how to do it but Ill have to find it again.
Is this problem temperature related and what transmission do you have ( I have a Jack's Transmission Stage 1 with the roller input shaft bearing upgrade) and an exedy twin. I cannot get the transmission to shift at all when its cold and if I let it get a little heat into it (warm up till the coolant needle is just onto the line for the bottom of the gauge) it is still difficult to shift into gear. But once it has a little heat in it if I press in clutch pedal and shift into 3rd and 4th real quick it loosens right up and I have no more problems.
Im not saying this is your problem, but when that was happening to me and my clutch was maxed out on adjustment, it was my clutch that was the problem. It had an ACT HDSS in it, and due to improper installation from the previous owner the dowels all flew out of the flywheel into the bellhousing, cracking it all the way around, and also making all the pressure plate bolts loose. So whenever I pushed the clutch down, the clutch wasnt disengaging enough. I ended up replacing my transmission and putting in a new ACT XTSS clutch and I have zero shifting problems now

If everything is working good it should be a smooth shift no matter what. If mine wasnt put away for the winter Id post a vid for you. Does it shift smoother with the car not running? It should shift the same with it not running as it does driving.
Different.. when the car is off shift so smooth. When the car is running harder to shift
I still lean towards the clutch dragging direction. Does the car have 2 step? Theres another test you can do but technically you are supposed to turn the 2 step off, but my car did it WHILE 2 stepping. I had the car stationary, clutch down and in first gear. When I floored the throttle to 2 step it the car started creeping forward. Thats a guarantee your clutch is dragging. If you dont have 2 step you do the same thing but instead of flooring it you slowly push the throttle down until the revs hit about 6-6500. If the car starts creeping forward the clutch is dragging.

I have a Buschwaker trans and below about 40*(ambient) it makes the same symptom you describe. My girls evo has a trans built by Aneheim Gear and it's shimmed much tighter. It makes that symptom below about 80*(ambient) but once the car is fully warmed up the notchy low rpm shift gets smooth.
