Taking care of my friends evo, need adivce.

Hi, my friend is outta country and I cant reach him. He is letting me take care of his evo 8 and its time for an oil change. I know standard is 10w 30 for stock engine, but it is modded. Which includes...
CBRD BBK turbo upgrade,1000cc PTE injectors, Mil-Spec rebuilt throttle body, Apexi intake, and a few more.

But since its modded, would I need to use a different weight oil, such as 5w 30, or 0w 40.

And I don't have a mitusbishi dealer around where I live, I cant get the oem filter, but is Mobil 1 filter just as good? I live in WA.

10w30 should be fine. I live in Vancouver, BC which is reasonably close to WA and dd my car...plus we got snow last week. Unless you are seeing a lot of snow and really cold temps down there 10w should be fine. If it is freezing the lower weights are fine as well. If the car is sitting for long periods I recommend using something like amsoil zrod with a high zinc content. In general evos drive crappy when cold so let the car warm up at least until you see the needle get to AC before you set off.

a few oem filters are just a wix rebranded i dont know about the mitsu but the mopar filters are. oem is all i prefer and avoid frams like they are the plague. they are known to be damaging to jeep motors for the lack of an anti drain back valve which cause you to essenstially start the motor without oil in the system

Take care to keep the RPM above 7k at all times. The clutch, front and rear diffs need special attention as well, use large slip angles, smokey low speed AWD burnouts + donuts to make sure they are working properly. The last thing you want is for your friend to think that you are not to be trusted with the care of his Evo!
