Transfer case

I'm considering on purchasing a used transfer case for my 2003 Evo 8. Im going to be making a bold and hasty decision if i end up buying it, so i need some advice.

Transfer case is off 06 evo w/ 60k for $700. Can't pass that up.

My question is, what type of precaution or steps should i take during my visual inspection to make im buying a good condition TC.

TC is off the car btw.

'03 was non-ACD. '06 was ACD.

Don't bother.

TC is easy to inspect. When you spin the output shaft one way and then to the opposite direction there should be NO PLAY. No clunking/grinding. The shaft should spin easily by hand.
Good luck.
