So last night the actual temp was -7 but with windchill it was around -16. I went to start my car around midnight and it was cranking fine but it would not catch. I cranked it on and off for a good 2 min and then my battery died. Funny thing is is that I just bought the battery less than a month ago and its a high crank amp cold start battery. As soon as I got a jump from someone my car started right up. The guy I bought the car from said he replaced the starter last year and I just replaced the spark plugs with some NGKs 8bpres. I already have a battery box in my trunk ready to go and I was thinking of maybe having two batteries in my car to see if that would help. Also the car was tuned in Arizona by the previous owner during the summer and it now is in Wisconsin if that helps any I really have no idea what to do any help is appreciated!

 

Sounds like it's be an issue with your cranking enirchment tables in your tune. Do you have a Tactrix table or know anything about tuning?

 

I don't know anything about tuning lol. I've only had the car since October and I'm slowly learning. I had issues with it last night as well but this time I turned off my headlights, radio, turbo timer, and radar detector and everything else I could. I still had to crank it a lot but it actually ended up starting on its own. I would still like to get this issue fixed for wintertime.

western central wisconsin. Theirs only like 5 weeks of really cold days left so it wouldn't make much sense to have it tuned then have to have it tuned again for the warmer weather.

 

If it's tuned properly it'll run well in all weather. If you have to have your car tuned for each season you need a better tune.

I understand man. I used to be in your shoes. Do a lot of reading and research. There is a ton of information on the internet about these cars if you just take the time to look. Also, I highly recommend taking your car to a shop that specializes in Evos. Most local shops will tell you they can work on your car but the reality is that they don't know squat about it. A real Evo shop will know your car inside and out and can you help with tuning issues like this.

 

Thanks man. I already have done a lot of research on the internet about my Evo. Finding a shop that deals specifically with Evo's is kinda hard in Wisconsin. So far I've only found one shop with an AWD dyno.
