I have heard 272's that had "normal" lifter tick.
The owner said it was normal, I have no idea.

I'm not sure we have enough info to help you out. Any chance you could post a sound clip that we could listen to?

i dont know how to do that (sound clip)
i am used to normal valve tick on inline 4s have had hondas 4 many years
it is more than i am used to i hope it is normal for having 272s but would like some reasureance that it is because i am pretty worried
i runs good really good
i does make a new noise higher piched after cams were installed when boost builds which i hope is normal also
i have buschur stage 3 w/272s
my friend has similar mods w/o cams but different intake that makes the high pitched noise like mine

sorry im very confusing but those that follow me please let me know what u think

Which lifter is making the noise? Is it the one towards the end of the oil supply rail? You should ask Ferrarokid about a similar head that was brought to that had a lifter noise after cams had been installed before he got the car in , that was the one that I wound up rehoning back to size because the caps got distorted somehow and the clearance between the cam and the housing was too large and a lot of the oil volume was dumping out around it and starving the lifters so they made some noise. Look at the post I have up on pics and install of cam housings- or something like that, I forget the title.

The only way to tell is to take the cams out of the head, install all of the caps back on and measure the housings for size and roundess. The proper clearance between the camshaft and the housing should be .001-.0015. If you measure that and find someothing much more than that, then there is a chance that that is where the problem is coming from.

Well, I just put my 272's in 3 days ago. And, I get a little bit of noise down low at about 1500 rpm when taking off from a stop. Also, I have two friends with DSM's, a 6-bolt and a 7-bolt motor, they both have 272's, and they both have a 'resonance' at a certain frequency. I think it's just the nature of these cams. I woudn't be terribly concerned about it if you think they were installed correctly.

I heard the noise you're talking about at the last autox. I didn't hear it until I was standing beside your car at the end of the day getting ready to leave. The guy with the white mirage also heard it and said something to me. It didn't sound good. I didn't get a real good chance to hear it but from a distance (10ft) it sounded like rod or main bearing knock. It could be a number of things. Whatever it is I can gaurantee it is attributed to the cam install. It sounds like it was run low on oil.

Mine makes a noize too. It is a clunk clunk, clunk sound about 2 per second at idle.

Me thinks its just liek a 2G with lifter tick, oil starvation at low RPMS, but low friction, once the RPMS rise, the tick stops.
