tranny fluid????
tranny fluid????
hey evom users, i have a 2006 evo 9 with a 5 speed tranny 61k for mileage and the car is bone stock. I'm doing a tranny fluid change and i need the correct fluid and mitsu part # for what i need. i want to do oem fluids cause the car is stock. i called like 5 dealers and got 5 diff answers. after doing a little (not enough) research i ended up buying diaqueen 75/85 part #mz320340. the guy i bought the car from gave me his left over fluids and the part number on the can was #mz313376..they are both 75/85 and seem to be the same fluids but have diff part numbers(i think they are for 6speed MR tranny). then i came home, found the mitsu manual that came with the car and it said to buy (see picture attached)...i am confused to the fullest..can anyone help me?? i just want the original diaqueen tranny fluid from mitsu for a 2006 5speed evo.

It seems they changed the part number again:

You can also use Redline MT-85 or MT-90/MTL mix (1:2 was the best result in my 03 EVO 5-speed).
I also tried Amsoil mix / Castrol SMX-S, but Redline mix is the best in terms of gear shift feel.
Hyundai gear oil part number 04300-00140 is also a good oil if can be source cheap like here in South Korea. (Import oils are darn expensive compared to local brand)

Not sure if this helps. I just use redline mt-90.

I have a 2005 Evo VIII with 5-speed and 80k miles. The shifting was getting a little notchy in lower gears with OEM oil, and really sticky in cold weather (below 35 degrees). I replaced OEM with OEM and just having new oil wasn't much better. I tried MT-85 (better than MT-90 in cold weather) and we just had our first 18 degree morning here in WV, and wow what a difference. Much Much smoother.

Deviating from your original question but I switched from Redline to Amsoil and saw benefit to third gear "notchiness". I think general consensus on these boards is 5spd fluids can differ from OEM as long as GL is correct.
And the correct GL is 4. GL-5 has additive that will eat yellow metal meaning synchronizers. Fluids claiming to be both GL-4 and GL-5 - well, you don't know what you are getting there and should be avoided.
